Lionra - A Gaelic word meaning "Network"

Lionra Consultants was established in 2019 by David McLean, an IT professional with almost 50 years experience in IT, networking and communications. He has a wealth of experience in delivering projects, many of which were in live and critical environments where the client’s business continuity is of paramount importance. He has a sound understanding of innovative Network technologies, coupled with sound management skills and a high degree of financial awareness.  His strengths in contract delivery, communication and client awareness are underpinned by an extensive knowledge base.

In a career spanning 48 years, David has worked for many major corporates including:- BT, Scottish Provident, Racal Datacom, KCOM, and Arthur McKay/Atalian Servest. He has been at the forefront of IT Infrastructure design for a total of six International Airports, including Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen (while under BAA ownership), Mauritius, Naples and Athens. At BTiNet, he designed and project managed the entire IT and Communications Infrastructure for the G20 summit held at St. Andrews in 2009, serving not only the delegates and guests but also the media teams. More recently, he has delivered IP Telephony, CCTV and Access Control solutions to Scottish based clients such as Trump Turnberry, St. Andrews Links Trust, Advice Direct Scotland and The R&A.

David has extensive experience both as a senior manager and as a Director. He has a vast experience in managing large, complex contracts in both the public and private sectors and demonstrates particular skills in delivering major projects within live and critical environments around the world.

David has extensive experience in the delivery of complex integrated solutions from project inception, through design and on to final delivery. He forges strong relationships with both his customers and his supply chain. He is an innovative and strategic thinker and continually develops his knowledge of new and “best of breed” technologies. His excellent leadership skills allow him to establish and maintain cohesive, motivated and driven teams. David also has the ability to understand the key drivers within his customers’ business and tailor solutions accordingly.
